Three popular watercolour artists, Brian Smith RI, Stephen Lees & Marilyn Allis. One fantastic venue in a beautiful seafront hotel in Bournemouth. A unique holiday with a touch of luxury whilst learning 3 different watercolour skills. In amazing studios overlooking the sea. A delicious full English or continental buffet style breakfast daily, a superb 3 course evening meal.  Special dietary needs catered for. Workshops are accompanied with Coffee and tea morning and afternoon.  The studios stay open until 10pm each evening should you wish to spend extra time painting, or you can relax in the hotels bar. Brian Smith RI

Brian is a professional Artist specialising in Watercolour. His paintings have been exhibited at Open Exhibitions internationally gaining numerous awards from the RI, RWS, RWA and RSMA Art Societies. He is a member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, based at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London Brian tutors Watercolour and Acrylic painting at West Dean College along with tutoring small groups from his studio and more recently running successful Workshops on Zoom. He also demonstrates and tutors workshops at art societies around the UK and Europe and for the past 10 years has been an Art Tutor on Cruise Ships. He regularly writes feature articles in Art magazines worldwide including The Art of Watercolour, International Artist and The Artist.

Brian’s workshop will cover using Acrylic to capture the mood, atmosphere and suggestion of daily life showing how to create impressionistic, coastal environment in the morning session and street life in the afternoon session. The simplicity of canvas & pigment offers a multitude of options to take your work to the next level. From the beginner to the experienced we never stop learning..

Marilyn Allis

Overall winner of the SAA’s Artist of the year in 1999 was the beginning of Marilyn’s art career. She shortly afterwards had a painting accepted in the RI exhibition in the Mall Galleries. She appeared on Chanel 4’s Watercolour challenge, more recently appearing as the guest artist in Fraser & Friends, a splash of colour and SAA live workshops. She has written 3 books People are scary (really), Animals on the Loose & Painting Dorset in Watercolour. She regularly writes articles for the Paint magazine. Her extensive travels around the world teaching on cruise ships inspire her which she brings to her workshops & demonstrations. She is a loose impressionistic painter capturing light & movement in her work

Marilyn will take you through a Vibrant animal warmup to get the feel of loose painting. Using a technique to create vibrant loose animals paintings. Encouraging you to loosen up and be free. You will then use your own inspiration to paint in the same way an animal or person portrait, with expert help on hand at all times. A quick fun canvas to wind down in the afternoon.

This is a very unique painting break. Each day you will take part in the workshop with a different tutor learning from their experience and talk through tuition and watching their demonstrations. You will go away with a whole wealth of experience and pampered stay in Bournemouth’s luxury Marsham Court Hotel.
