Acrylic Trio Break 2nd – 6th October 2023

Three popular Acrylic artists, Lindsey, Stephen Yates & Marilyn Allis. One fantastic venue in a beautiful seafront hotel in Bournemouth. A unique holiday with a touch of luxury whilst learning 3 different Acrylic skills . In amazing studios overlooking the sea. A delicious full English or continental buffet style breakfast daily, a superb 3 course evening meal.  Special dietary needs catered for. Workshops are accompanied with Coffee and tea morning and afternoon.  The studios stay open until 10pm each evening should you wish spend extra time painting, or you can relax in the hotels bar. WIFI is free and so is parking. Inspirational coastline, multicoloured beach huts, pier, gardens, shopping and the Russell Cotes museum on the doorstep.

Lindsey J Cole

Lindsey is a New Forest Artist.  Primarily self- taught, her work is of varied subject and media, enjoying texture, mark-making and experimenting with paint.  She draws her inspiration from local forest and coastline, responding to atmosphere and light.  Lindsey has had TV exposure on Sky Landscape Artist of the Year, winning her heat in 2017 as a wild card entry.

As part of the team for TRIO Holidays, Lindsey will be offering an exciting workshop using Acrylics, She will be exploring Nature in the Landscape. Demonstrating throughout. Planning and colour mixing. Creating a textured base for applying paint and ink, also using assorted tools for mark-making and adding various materials creating an interesting finished painting.

Stephen Yates

“Making great art is a deep passion of mine.  My work in both Ceramics and Painting has been described as a ‘Cipher’, a code, which reveals itself through personal marks of expression”.

My Artwork expresses too, the concept of a different period in both time and History too, paintings in Watercolours, Oils and acrylics painted in diffused light conditions both day and at night, explore the spiritual nature of this area of outstanding natural beauty and Jurassic Coastline.

Stephen is a teacher with vast experience of leading groups in both disciplines.

Each session will be supported by demonstrations and working examples showing insights into painting with Acrylics

‘Understanding the medium of Acrylics’ Preparation and planning when creating textures in Acrylics’ Beginning with different techniques showing brushwork, scraffito, wet-on-wet, overlay and glazing, running and splatters, pallete knife, modeling paste, glazing, stencils and stamps, masking off, sponges, scumbling, soft-edge and hard-edge and layering. ‘Silver Birch Woodland in Autumn and Winter’ Preparing the ground and working on canvas, board and paper.  Creating a composition and mark making. ‘Seascapes’ Preparation and colour mixing for a series of work entitles ‘The calm before the Storm’

Marilyn Allis

Overall winner of the SAA’s Artist of the year in 1999 was the beginning of Marilyn’s art career. She shortly afterwards had a painting accepted in the RI exhibition in the Mall Galleries. She appeared on Chanel 4’s Watercolour challenge, more recently appearing as the guest artist in Fraser & Friends, a splash of colour and SAA live workshops. She has written 3 books People are scary (really), Animals on the Loose & Painting Dorset in Watercolour. She regularly writes articles for the Paint magazine. Her extensive travels around the world teaching on cruise ships inspire her which she brings to her workshops & demonstrations. She is a loose impressionistic painter capturing light & movement in her work

Marilyn will cover a range of subjects, in acrylic bringing in a little sparkle with metallic paints and lights and darks.

This is a very unique painting break. Each day you will take part in the workshop with a different tutor learning from their experience and talk through tuition and watching their demonstrations. You will go away with a whole wealth of experience and pampered stay in Bournemouth’s luxury Marsham Court Hotel.
